Jesus said... “I am the Gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” John 10:9 JUNE 2018 UPDATE!
As theologian and comedian Larry the Cable Guy would say: “It’s time to GET ER DONE!” The Atlanta Christian Church family embarked on a journey of faith a few years ago by raising $579,000 in pledges toward a new building that would provide multiple opportunities for ministry and outreach to our community. Praise be to God, that $645,000 has generously been given to date, far exceeding the pledges. Thanks to the faithfulness of so many ACC families, this new tool is getting very close to completion.
Now that many of the bills have been paid, we are in a much better position to project the additional funds needed to complete the project this summer AND avoid taking on long-term debt. We have received and approved a “fixed bid” from our contractor for the completion of the building. Based on this bid, an additional $236,364 is needed to avoid long-term debt and finish the project completely this summer.
(This plan includes using memorial fund dollars to complete the kitchen, but does not include completion of the parking lot.)
The elders have planned out a simple three-phase process to fund the completion of the building (without taking on long-term debt):
PHASE 1: The six eldership/ministerial families have been praying about the dollars needed to avoid long-term debt for the past several weeks. This past Sunday, these six families committed to donating an additional $64,200 over the next three years, PLUS giving $14,600 on a July 8th special offering. This is a total commitment of $78,800, and brings the amount required to avoid long-term debt down to $157,564! These commitments are above and beyond regular giving to the general ministry of ACC. It is our prayer that these pledges will lead the way for the ACC family.
PHASE 2: Those who are currently leading in an area of ministry at ACC (and their families) have been invited to a cookout on June 1st. The purpose of this cookout is to share more detailed information about the building, its future ministry uses, explanation of sources and uses of funds, take a hard-hat tour of the building, and discuss plans for moving forward. At this time, these leaders will be asked to begin pray- ing for the Lord’s leading to join the elders in pledging toward the completion of the project. (If you are leading in an area of ministry at ACC, and did not receive an invitation, we apologize for the oversight and ask that you reach out to Nathan.)
PHASE 3: On July 8th, we have planned our “Commitment Sunday and Celebration Potluck” for the entire church family. More information will be available as the date approaches. On this date, we will be collecting BOTH a one-time offering AND 3-year commitments toward completing this building while avoiding long-term debt. This will be followed by an all- church potluck (yum!) to celebrate God’s faithfulness and provision.
This is an exciting season in the life of Atlanta Christian Church! New families are attending, young people are making decisions for Christ, small groups are helping people share each other’s burdens and joys, celebrative worship is uplifting each Sunday, and the overall spirit feels positive and energetic. Thank you for your continued prayers that God will use ACC to advance His Kingdom, and touch the lives of people in Atlanta, the surrounding communities, and throughout the world!
