Becoming a Christian

God's Word tells of His great love for us. His will, is that every individual turn from sin, and accept His free gift of salvation, granted to us by grace (Ephesians 2:8, 9). As we come to the knowledge that Jesus Christ is God's Saving Grace, our faith leads to this response:

  • We believe that Jesus is the Christ; the Son of the Living God. (Mark 16:16; John 20:31; Acts 16:31)
  • We repent our sins and turn to Jesus. (Matthew 4:17; Mark 2:17; Acts 2:37, 38; 3:19; 17:30)
  • We acknowledge (confess) Jesus before men. (Matthew 10:32, 33; Romans 10:9; Philippians 2:10, 11)
  • We are baptized by immersion into Jesus for the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38; 8:36-39; 22:16; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12)
  • We rise to walk in a faithful and righteous life with Christ. (I Peter 1:3-9; 2:1-3; Revelation 2:10)

Becoming a Part of Our Family
Upon receiving Christ as your Lord and Savior, we extend to you the right hand of fellowship, inviting you to become a member of our family here at Atlanta Christian Church. If you are already a Christian, you may place your fellowship by stating your desire to do so.

In the Fall of 2023, Doug Maris preached a 10-week message series entitled "Christianity 101."  The series focused on the basics of following Jesus and explored foundational issues essential to our walk with Him. This study is appropriate for those who are considering surrendering to Jesus for the first time, as well as those who have been following Jesus for decades and are now sharing their faith with others. Two Sundays are focused on the place of immersion in the process of becoming a Christian. All 10 weeks of the series are available to view below (you can fast forward the worship service video to the point of the sermon if you like).
